2011 Best Dressed List by Adrienne Yancy

As another year comes to a close with Christmas, I wanted to wish all of my friends, supporter, followers, and especially the ArielSimone team a Merry Christmas! I greatly appreciate all of the continual love and support and can’t wait until the New Year!

At the end of every year, before I make new goals and new collections I like to review what I had accomplished in the past year, and what the runway trends were from the past year. So I wanted to share one of my personal trend lists with you all. As a designer, these are my favorite trends of the year!

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I love all of the backless dresses, and this pattern is perfect!

The sky-high slit was so sexy on almost all figures this year.

Color-blocking was a look that everyone could do simply.

The all over sheer lace was a daring hit.

Leather pieces were also a pleasant trend. This is a trend I think will continue for the next season.

From the nude lip, to the nude shoes, to the nude dresses, I loved it all!

And finally, we can’t forget all of the avant garde looks from the year! I can’t do without them!!

Male Gift Guide for Those Last Minute Shoppers by Nick Casperson

I seem to hear all the time how hard it is to buy men a gift that they will actually like, so today I thought I would come up with a list of perfect little gifts that anybody would be certain to like… and this list will certainly have no cologne, ties, or ugly sweaters of any kind. The biggest tip I have is that items on that above list are the most subjective to an individual’s taste and therefore will almost always result in that fake smile and the response “oh… I love it…”

  • The Art of Shaving Starter Kit – $25 available at The Art of Shaving store in Mall of America or online.

This makes the perfect gift for those of you who want your man to have a soft cheek as you lean in for a kiss… and it’s unscented so they won’t complain about the odd smell.

  • The Nook simple touch E-reader – $99 available at Barnes and Noble stores or online.

The one thing that can probably never go wrong is buying a guy some kind of electronics… not to mention the Nook is used for more than just books, it also can download newspapers and magazines. It is the perfect distraction for those wanting to catch up on their reading during a lunch break or riding the bus home.

  • iCufflinks – $128 available online.

Combining fashion and technology… it doesn’t really get any better than that. These cufflinks pulse with a white light just like the power switch of a Mac. You will literally be adding a flash to a rather ordinary suit, not to mention be the envy of all of your coworkers.

  •  Steve Madden Brent Suede Chukka boots – $115 available online at or at any Macy’s store.

Chukka boots seem to be all the rage this season because of their comfort and versatility. Depending on the quality and the material they can be paired with nearly any outfit. Steve Madden is also one of my favorite shoe lines because they are not only very stylish but are very comfortable which is hard to find.

A New Holiday Tradition: 12, er, 10 Dates until Christmas

We have something totally adorable that we discovered that you can do with your significant other or any loved one/s during this holiday season. It involves being a little crafty and a little creative, but who doesn’t love a little bit of those things once in a while?

{Photo source}

A Beautiful Mess just posted on one of her new newlywed traditions: the 12 Dates of Christmas. And it was just too cute of an idea not to share with you all. No matter how many dates you choose, the first step is creating the special dates and concealing them in a numbered envelope. Divide the number of envelopes between the you and your beau or between you and your besties– whomever you are sharing this new tradition with. Then think of special things for each date card. Sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace? Going to your favorite restaurant? A night in of making gingerbread houses while sipping mulled wine? Holiday photo shoot? Picking out cute ArielSimone suits together for a future fab vacation? All of these are completely acceptable dates….

{Photo source}

Then, each day leading up to the 25th of December, pick the corresponding card. Such a fun idea!

{Photo source}

We just love the idea of 12 Dates of Christmas (inspired by A Beautiful Mess and Rockstar Diaries) as a new holiday tradition. Obviously, this cute idea can be adapted to 10 dates (which means starting tonight!!) or 5 dates, etc. You get the point.

And for that evening out to your favorite restaurant? Might we make a little suggestion…. We have tons of great holiday garments, perfect for any date. Whether it’s a work holiday function or a special evening out, don’t forget to make dressing fabulously a holiday tradition too!

A Richard Moody Holiday Party Recap

We hope everyone had a great weekend, getting dolled up or donning an ugly sweater, attending holiday parties! We had a wonderfully packed weekend of holiday events, shopping, tree decorating, and hosting a holiday dinner party.

We hope you have a few more outfits at the ready because there are more events coming up before and after Christmas! We will be posting the local events as well as recapping them and sharing outfit inspirations.

Last night was Richard Moody’s Annual Holiday Party, and if you missed it, you missed an amazing event. Ladies came out in their best furs, and there were countless men in suits. We even spotted a top hat in the room!

It’s always packed for Richard’s events, and this party was no exception! The Urban Eatery was to capacity, while music was provided by DJ Ronny D. The food was great, with selections ranging from beef wellingtons to cheesecake balls– and they never ran out! This year’s charity benefited two Minneapolis based organizations; Domestic Abuse Project and SCC Horizons Youth Program. Each guest was asked to donate an unwrapped toy as admission.

About the charities…..

The Domestic Abuse Project works to stop domestic violence one family at a time. DAP’s partnerships with community leaders like Richard Moody are the thing that can not only help eliminate domestic abuse but also provide gifts to less fortunate children.

SCC Horizons Youth Program provides after-school help to children and youth ages five to thirteen years old. Minneapolis Public Schools identify at-risk kids who need the academic strengthening that Horizons provides. These school aged kids can now have a gift after all their hard work of holistic learning.

We love being able to help out with a charity, after all this is the season of giving! Happy Holidays and have a great week! Photos from the actual event are not up yet but were promised to be posted SOON!

It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

Tis the season to shop and be merry, so we wanted to let you guys know about a fabulous holiday party that’s happening tomorrow, if you haven’t already heard about it! We love the vision behind this company, which sells “completely unique items created just for you, by completely unique artists you need to know!”

Another great thing about the event is that half of all ticket sales will be donated to Open Arms of Minnesota. Here are the details for the event, and we’ll see you there!

A Big THANK YOU for our Successful Holiday Event!

Thank you to all that came out to support our (very first) ArielSimone Holiday Soiree! We had a nice turnout and really enjoyed all aspects of the event— especially those who made it possible. We wanted to give a brief rundown for those of you who were not able to make it.

First things first, we arrived at the event space– Elsworth Menswear, located in Downtown Minneapolis. We organized the space to make sure we had a place for all our for-sale garments (archival pieces were 40% off!!!). We also made sure that we designated space for our lovely vendors ( Realia by Jen & Irely Intimates) as well as our amazing DJ (Ander Other: Doomtree).  Once we had that all figured out, our models arrived for Hair & Makeup (thank you taj salon and spa!!). We made the wise decision to take the models to the salon rather than have the artists come to us, which allowed us to have more use of our backstage space for steaming garments and further setup.

Once our lovely vendors arrived, we were able to get them set up. Irely had some amazing product that was positioned at the front of the store. Realia by Jen was shelved closer to the ArielSimone garments for sale, which made it easy to assign gorgeous gems to all of our 8 runway looks. Not going to lie, we were also able to assign amazing gems to our outfits too.

Once 5pm rolled around, everything was ready to go! Ander Other was creating an incredible atmosphere with his music choices, bottles of wine were being popped open while shoppers and supporters gathered for mingling. Just as we planned, at 6:30 we presented 4 holiday looks in a mini runway show as well as our 4 S/S looks. We were also really lucky to have a male model in our show, styled by Keith Dorsett.

It was a lot of work and coordination, but we had so much fun planning this event and look forward to more! We want to specially thank our models– Lucie Jane, Sarah, Abbie and Yana for wearing our garments so flawlessly! And a special thanks to the photographers present– Mirza Nizamuddin and Kevin C. Walker for documenting our event and our looks. For more photos, check out Facebook.

ArielSimone Holiday Soiree

If you haven’t heard yet ArielSimone will be having a Holiday Soiree this year, hosted by Keith Dorsett. We are so thrilled, we can hardly sit still! The event will be held at his space Elsworth Menswear in the LaSalle Plaza downtown Minneapolis on the skyway level (second floor).

RSVP on Facebook, if you haven’t already!

We will be grooving and mingling from 5-8pm this Friday, the 2nd of December. DJ Ander Other (Doomtree) will be dropping amazing beats– so get ready to have some fun! We will also be having an exciting mini fashion show at 6:30pm (Hair & Makeup by Taj Salon). We will be  presenting both men and women Holiday looks. Additionally, we will  preview some spring/summer looks!! So ladies, don’t forget to bring your beau. Complimentary drinks and delicious desserts will be provided. Best of all?! This event is free! So join us after work or Happy Hour!

We hope you come and support our first event and the wonderful vendors that we will have present, including our favorite jewelry designer Jen Scheffler from Realia by Jen. Additionally, Irely Intimates will be selling some wonderful products that make great gifts! You’re definitely in for a treat! See you there!

Happy Independence Day!

We hope that you’ve had the perfect long weekend and are still celebrating in absolute style! Maybe you’ve taken a vacay with your honey, beaching it with your besties or are spending time with your family in traditional BBQ fashion– what ever the case may be, we hope that you had at least a moment to think about the meaning of independence. It’s OK if you haven’t yet, normally its all about the fireworks for us too.

With that being said, a little history lesson can never hurt, especially on a topic that still has such significant relevance today and one that can apply to all of us individually…

It has been 235 years since the drafting and signing of The Declaration of Independence by our America’s founders. In 1776, a group of courageous people risked their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor for a dream of freedom and sweet autonomy from an imperial power. Pretty magnificent.

So, tell us….how did you spend your Fourth of July!?!
