She’s Got Style by Lexie T.

When I opened up my e-mail and saw that Dan had sent me the photos from this shoot we did withOlivia and Jen, I jumped for joy!

Dan and I haven’t done a colorful shoot together recently and our goal is actually to get more out in the next month or two. The most recent colorful editorial we did was this one, back in May.

We added a little funk to this shoot by adding these glasses. Dan got really creative with that idea, hah! I really really love how this shoot captures Olivia’s personality. Some people think that models are really stiff and don’t like to have fun during shoots… but this girl, she’s got that good attitude.

Every shoot I style, I typically have a favorite look where I say, “WE NEED TO SHOOT THIS.” But, during this shoot, I liked it ALL. Part of it is because we all communicated really well as a team with what we all wanted. That’s what collaborations should be like, ya know?

These photos are amazing, needless to say and I can’t wait to show you what Dan and I have next for a fashion editorial 🙂 Stay tuned!

BEAUTY EXPO: Recap of Another SFFAMA event

One thing that I have been LOVING about SF is that just about every other week, SFFAMA—the committee that curates SF Fashion Week—hosts events to support and foster the SF fashion community as well. Something I have noticed true to SF Style is that almost anything here is affilicated with technology. Big companies like Facebook, Youtube, Apple, Google, (and many more) are here as well as other popular social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Polyvore and Copious. It’s exciting to be where it is all happening and as the industry grows, we will become more integrated with technology and science. I, as a self proclaimed multidisciplinarist, love the collaborations and thrive on the meeting of the minds.

We attended the Beauty Expo last Saturday which was held at 1 Market Street, home of Pigment Cosmetics. It was an evening for an eclectic mix of  fashion and tech community members, fashion bloggers and vendors to on look a local H&MU talent to compete in a challenge of best inspired look. There were 4 groups and each pair of Hair and Makeup Artists had a fashion blogger as their model. The model/fashion bloggers (Lona Duncan and Alison Messinger) were wearing the designs of Jennifer Ly . While the models were getting made up, all the attendees ate cheese, fruit and chocolate, sipped wine and champagne and networked with fellow guests until the runway segment began.

Charleston Pierce was our dynamic host of the night. He had great energy and a booming personality. I really appreciated his enthusiasm and his coaching of the fashion bloggers when they walked down the runway. Charleston’s line of work includes model coaching and production and I can see how it would really be impactful to work with him (aspiring SF models, are you writing that down??).

The judges were Dario SmithGwen Wright and Joyce Hu the BookR. I spoke with Joyce a little bit about her work before her event duties required her attention.  She runs a modeling booking platform in Sausalito, which allows models to have control of their own careers, which I think is really important. She also happens to have a beautiful and elegant presence.

Here are some images of the looks; the use of needle work netting in this photo below was incredible.

My favorite look was look 4…I loved the black sheer, the hair and the model, whose name is Hart.

The winner, however, was look # 2 inspired by the peacock. I am sure there were more elaborations on what inspired each look, but the acoustics made it hard to hear and so I missed some of the details. Here was the winning look below. Congrats to Avital Elgaziel and Jerushalem Weaver of Avital Beauty Lounge!

Over all, it was a good event. I met some interesting contacts that I look forward to seeing at future events. For more photos, check out the SFFAMA blog.

Red Heart and More Video Bloggin’

This past weekend I had the pleasure of being one of the designers the the Mall of America’s annual Red Hearts for Fashion event.  I designed a tennis workout outfit inspired by the on the go women in my life.  I wanted to create something functional and wearable, but also cute, flattering and versatile.

Here are some shots!

My model, Sarah, is beyond adorable! Love her 🙂

I also posted another video on my youtube channel/vlog!  Those are all my designs I am dancing around in, let me know what you think!

Get Your Tickets to Avoid the Grey

ArielSimone is going to be presenting a new one of kind look in this year’s momentous Avoid the Grey fashion show, held by Cliché!  This annual show is known for its Rolodex of great local designers, and trends. This  year’s show promises to be even better than the last!

For more than seven years, Cliché boutique in the Uptown neighborhood in Minneapolis has produced runway shows featuring the ready-to-wear collections of the most talented local designers. This year, expect something different as runway devolves to voyeurism.

For Avoid the Grey, Cliché allows guests to gaze clandestinely into the private thoughts and inspiration of ten local designers. Each designer has concealed the inspiration for their 2012 collection within a chamber. Peer through these chambers and see what has never been shared before…the birth of a collection. No binoculars required, just a pair of prying eyes.

Featuring clothing and accessories by Amanda Christine, ArielSimone, Carmichael Claith, Chrysopoeia, Cocoquette, Danielle Everine, Gina Marie Vintage, Kathryn V., Kjurek Couture, KR Designs, Larissa Loden, Needle & Black, Rachel Blomgren, Realia by Jen, Sarah M. Holm and Sweet T.

And for this year’s show, ArielSimone is once again pairing with unmatched local designer of Realia Jewelry Jen Scheffler.

Art work by Bryant Locher, Caroline Debevec, Daniel Jaffe, Emilie Robinson and Isa Gagarin. AND  a short film by Andrea Bursott.

It’s a cash bar only event, and please not that this event will start promptly at 7pm. Unlike past years, there will not be two separate shows, so please come on time to see section 1 and section 2 of the show!

If you haven’t gotten tickets yet, ArielSimone has a plethora of tickets left, so please email Adrienne directly at Tickets can also be purchased at Cliché.
