Working Gal: Keeping Your Style While Dressing Business Professional by Joanna

Ladies, it’s Wednesday morning and you’ve hit snooze so many times that now you are rushing out the door to get to work, but you are faced with the age-old question “what do I wear today?” If you’re anything like me, you find yourself staring at a ticking clock and surrounded by the rejected choices that are now piling up around you.

My biggest struggle: how do I keep my style while dressing for a corporate job?  I recently began working in the world of black, grey, and navy, also known as the banking industry, and while I love the job I find it hard to stay true to me under all those stuffy suits. Solution? Play around a bit and push the boundaries in cleaver ways. If you have to wear neutrals at least mix and match them! I sometimes like to mix a black slack with a blue blazer to give off a more trendy work appropriate attire. Of course I use punches of color anywhere I can: A bright-colored top, colored blazer, colorful accessories, or a nice scarf to offset the neutrals. I also try to experiment with my nail polish. While yellow and neon are out of the question, I try candy colored tones and pastels for a fun, yet professional look. And if I’m feeling particularly daring that day I might even add some glitter polish on my ring finger. I’ll also swap out the classic mule work heels for a classy wedge to give my outfit a little pizzazz.  Of course no outfit is complete without a killer bag and some rocking accessories so try some interesting stack bracelets or cuffs, a statement necklace, or cocktail ring. I’ve recently become obsessed with mixed colored pearls with different structures and textures, putting a twist on the classic round white pearl necklace.

You can also set your outfit off with a fun handbag. We loved the neon look this summer, but as you’re prepping for fall, look for textured bags in shades of emerald and forest green, and royal blue.  And of course, ladies don’t forget that your hair can be the idea accessory! Pin it up in a messy bun, or try a fishtail braid.  Either way change it up and make a statement with your locks that compliments your style.  Getting inspired?
